Apple has Siri; Microsoft has Cortana; Amazon has Echo; and Google is looking for Google Home to be the next big thing in artificial intelligence. Unfortunately, most forays into the world of machine learning and artificial intelligence have been fairly underwhelming. But Apple hopes to change all that by banking big and bringing on developers and experts to build out their slow-moving AI division.

Niantic, the former Google unit behind the popular augmented reality gameIngress, has teamed up with The Pokemon Company and Nintendo to bring the iconic Pokemon title to mobile platforms. So, it’s no surprise, really, that the billion-plus-strong social network is rolling out new tools that effectively kill those two birds with one stone: two new Chrome extensions that simplify bookmarking and updated web plugins that integrate with any webpage.
